Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3

Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is an all-season tire with an asymmetric tread pattern, which the manufacturer put on the market in 2020. The tire is characterized by great traction and smooth ride in any weather conditions all year round, combined with low rolling resistance, and long treadlife.

The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 model came to replace Vector 4Seasons Gen-2, which was put on sale five years ago. The optimized tread pattern underwent a few changes, even though it kept its symmetry and direction, these changes promising 20% higher hydroplaning resistance in comparison with other types of design, as well as more efficient evacuation of water, snow, and slush from the contact patch.

The results of the Goodyear in-company test, which was conducted to compare the performance of Vector 4Seasons Gen-2 and Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 in size 205/55 R16, prove that the new all-season model outstrips its predecessor literally in every respect. And, while the level of snow, wet, and dry traction increased only slightly, the new all-season model is head and shoulders above the old one in terms of rolling resistance and expected mileage.

At the same time, the test involved the Goodyear’s two main all-season rivals, Continental AllSeasonContact and Michelin CrossClimate+, with the latter being able to surpass the third-generation Vector 4 Seasons model in terms of dry traction and resistance to wear.

The all-season model Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 has wide curvilinear tread blocks and extra sipes (also known as lamellas) in the central section of the tread pattern. They form a lot of biting edges that ensure dependable traction on winter roads, hills, and during sharp cornering. The engineers were able to achieve more effective water and slush dispersion thanks to the deep and wide drainage grooves, while the tire’s deformation during emergency maneuvers on dry pavement was reduced thanks to the reinforced shoulder areas.

The version of this all-season model designed specially for vehicles with a high gravity center is named Goodyear Vector 4Seasons SUV Gen-3.
