The innovative use of flexible polymer chains and a special resin in the tire's compound has led to significant improvements. Acceleration and braking on ice have seen enhancements of 9% and 11%, respectively, while ice handling capabilities have surged by 13%. This is due in part to the tire's refined tread pattern and the introduction of new 3D sipes, which are critical for navigating winter's challenges.
Hankook has not only retained but enhanced the V-shaped directional pattern seen in the last generation. An increase in the width of the transverse grooves by 24% facilitates faster water dispersion, thereby boosting wet road performance. The braking performance on wet surfaces and handling have improved by 9% and 5%, respectively. Additionally, the design incorporates wide shoulder blocks, augmenting dry handling by an impressive 19%.
Another noteworthy advancement is the optimization of the vulcanization process temperature and a 10% increase in the tire's contact area with the road. This has resulted in a 30% extension of the tire's lifespan, thanks to a more even load distribution.
The Hankook Winter i*cept iZ3 and iZ3 X tires are now available for pre-order in the United States, offering a broad range of 51 sizes, with diameters spanning from 15 to 20 inches.
