Nokian Powerproof is a new summer model 2019, developed specifically for Central Europe. According to the manufacturer, this asymmetric UPH tire provides logical and predictable road feel and quick steering feedback in any summer weather conditions, ensuring crisp steering response both on sun-scorched asphalt and in the driving rain. The appearance of the Nokian Powerproof was preceded by four years of development, laboratory testing, and field testing in Finland, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, and Germany. In addition, the tire was tested by TÜV SÜD independent testing organization, which guarantees its rounded performance in absolutely any kind of summer weather conditions you may think of.

The ability of the Nokian Powerproof to adapt quickly to various driving conditions, be that a 40-degree heat or a sudden violent thunderstorm, was achieved by using a number of innovative technologies invented by the Finnish tire maker. The precise and exact contact with the road surface is ensured by a dual-zone tread pattern, implemented in the Dual Zone Safety concept. Thanks to it, the Powerproof tire easily adapts to the texture of the road surface, ensuring lightning-fast steering response on rain-slick motorways and sun-scorched boulevards alike, which is an absolute must for bypassing an obstacle in an emergency situation. In the Dual Zone Safety concept, the Power Zone on the tire’s outer shoulder ensures precise handling. The compact tread blocks coupled with the Slope Groove Design that can withstand high lateral forces by means of their sloped groove edges deliver precise handling on dry asphalt even at high speeds. The Wet Safety Zone on the tire’s inside maximizes safety on wet roads by optimizing grip while preserving logical and stable handling. The trapezoidal Flow Grooves divide the center rib and the rib closest to the inner shoulder. This sweeping, winding design of the groove bottoms allows for effective aquaplaning prevention accelerating evacuation of water from the contact area. The stability of the Nokian Power Proof in rainy weather is also strengthened by wide circumferential grooves and groove ends formed in the tread blocks with their sides having a horn-like indentation. These Swoop Grooves further facilitate the removal of water. The tread of this UHP tire developed for demanding use and higher speeds consists of several different rubber compounds. In the unique Dynamic Grip rubber compound, the functional molecule chains and polymers form a dense, flexible mesh-like structure that ensures better grip and durability than in the previous tire generation. The multi-layered tread structure also reduces rolling resistance, allowing the new Nokian Powerproof to roll lightly while saving fuel. The Silent Groove Design consists of hemispherical indentations, reminiscent of a golf ball pattern, on the walls of the longitudinal ribs. It provides additional riding comfort and further reduces the interior noise and external rolling noise of the vehicle.

The Nokian Powerproof sidewall is made of a new rubber compound that optimizes fuel consumption and further increases ride comfort.
