What is bad?
These tires came standard on my 2013 Chevy Sonic and my wife's 2013 Chevy Trax, both H rated. Unfortunately, the Continental ContiPremiumContact 2 SSR did not live up to my expectations. We only got about 15k miles out of them before they were nearly bald on the Trax and 18K on the Sonic. They frequently lost grip on a certain corkscrew bend in my town, even in dry conditions, which was quite concerning. In wet conditions, they were even worse, causing the back end to slip out at speeds above 15mph. Noise was okay at first, but it became significantly worse with wear, to the point where long journeys would leave us with ringing in our ears and headaches. They also felt firm and did not absorb bumps well, making the ride uncomfortable. After switching to other brands, both cars felt completely different, much more comfortable, and with better grip.
What is good?
Had these CPC 2 SSR tires on my Volkswagen Polo 6R 1.6, with tire size 215/45 R16 H, and covered 20,000 miles, mostly on motorways. These tires are one of the best in the premium class. The grip in dry conditions is excellent and very confidence-inspiring. They perform equally well in wet conditions, though they can aquaplane a bit in extremely wet weather. The traction when taking off from a standstill is commendable. The wear rate is reasonable, and the tires remain quiet even at high speeds, which enhances the driving experience. Overall, these tires provided a smooth, safe, and enjoyable ride throughout their lifespan.
