Dunlop Sport Maxx Race II (2) is a summer asymmetric sports tire, developed in collaboration with the engineers of Porsche AG. This model premiered at Geneva Motor Show 2017. The tire is characterized by excellent dry traction, as well as crisp steering response, which opens up boundless possibilities for using them on racetracks. The Dunlop Sport Maxx Race II came to replace the Sport Maxx Race model. Just like its predecessor, it was designed to unlock the full potential of the most extreme of sports cars of its time. For the second-generation Race tire, it was the Porsche 911 GT3. For the Sport Maxx Race 2, the engineers at Dunlop and Porsche relied entirely on the experience gained in developing tires for various types of sporting events: circuit racing and endurance racing. Specifically, the optimization of the profile led to a more balanced distribution of pressure in the contact area, which in turn improved the tire’s steering feedback during emergency maneuvers, and ensured a more precise handling response.

Inside of the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 circumferential grooves, there are special bridges that increase the tire’s stiffness. This innovative technology is called LightWeight Reinforcement Structure Design. By using it, the engineers were able to create a stiffer tire, at the same time using less rubber compound, which led to a reduction of the overall weight of the tire.

The Dunlop Sport Maxx Race II is made of a unique rubber compound of “racing” origin. It heats up quicker than regular tread compound does, which increases the tire’s grip on dry surfaces and prevents quick deterioration of performance under extreme loads.
