My husband and I both instruct with two track day organizations, so we've put these Hankook Ventus R-S4 Z232s to the test. They're fantastic when the track temps hit 140 degrees! You’ll heat cycle the tire out before the tread is gone. I even won a Time Trial race at Barber Motorsports Park on a used set. These tires wear like iron. Made it through more than 10 track days with 2+ hours each day. They aren’t as fast as the RT660s or RE71Rs, but they last more than twice as long. They’re the budget track tire for racing. I replace these before they cord because they stop responding to heat after so many cycles. I use RE71s for time trials or autocross and keep these for regular track use. They’re an excellent tire overall.
What is good?
I bought R-S4 for my Cayman S for an upcoming track day at Sebring. Started my search for a tire with more grip, but the reviews said the Hankooks lasted longer than other 200 TW tires. They were the only ones on my list that had both my tire sizes in stock, and I needed quick delivery.
Comments
Compared to the Michelin Pilot Sports I had before, the Hankook grip was superior on track. Drove to the track for the event, experiencing them on very wet roads with some standing water – grip was also superior in those conditions. Comfortable with road noise, no louder than my Michelins, though my Cayman isn’t quiet with its current exhaust. The road feel and drivability are also comparable. The Hankooks look great, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they progress

Driving in El Paso, these tires handle combined highway and city driving well. They’re great for track use and last a long time. Usable for autocross too, but the long time to heat up and vague steering response compared to competitors hold them back a bit. Had them as my only set for six months and enjoyed every moment. I’d consider buying again after trying more tire options, but PLEASE make a 205/50 R15!
