Achilles ATR Sport 2 is a non-directional UHP summer tire designed for sports cars. This tire is characterized by excellent traction and lively handling response on dry and wet pavement, as well as good lateral stability and noiseless ride. Released in 2014, the Achilles ATR Sport 2 came to replace the Achilles ATR Sport model; the new tire has a slightly different tread design. The tire has retained its directional tread pattern because it ensures quick evacuation of water from the contact area during the rain, as well as reliable wet and dry traction. What changed, however, is the central extra-stiff rib, which became a dual one. By doing this, the young and ambitious Indonesian tire makers improved the vehicle’s road holding ability and handling response at high speeds. In the first-generation model there were tread blocks lying in a somewhat chaotic fashion left and right of the central rib. In the ATR Sport 2 model, they are replaced by central stiffness ribs with numerous diagonal notches around the entire circumference, which provides some extra grip. The enlarged blocks in the shoulder areas contributed to increasing the tire’s lateral stability and maneuverability during high-speed cornering. The use of the proprietary technology α0 ensured extra cornering grip, as well as quick self-cleansing of the tread in wet conditions and better hydroplaning resistance.

The key part in dispelling water in the contact area is played by wide radial channels and widening inter-block grooves, which work together to ensure reliable wet performance of the Achilles ATR Sport 2
