Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV (presented in 2018) is a UHP summer tire for city SUVs, which, according to the manufacturer, ensures safe high-speed driving both in wet and dry conditions. The design of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV is already familiar to speed enthusiasts because it is fully identical to the tread pattern of the passenger-car tire Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3. Furthermore, the SUV version uses the same technologies as the passenger one: Active Braking and Grip Booster (the name of the rubber compound).

The “Active Braking” technology increases the contact patch of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV during the braking, which reduces the stopping distance regardless of the weather conditions. As for the “Grip Booster” technology, it not only improves the stability of handling response, but also increases braking performance. In addition, this reduces the tire’s sensitivity to road inequalities. The non-directional asymmetric tread pattern of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV tire is meant to ensure maximally reliable wet and dry grip under high loads, particularly when changing lanes or during emergency maneuvers. The Goodyear engineers also worked on improving the tread design of the tire by using a technology called SUV-Optimized Construction. The reinforced multi-ply structure of this model improves handling response of vehicles with a high center of gravity at any speed, optimizes tread stiffness during cornering, and reduces tread wear. The use of the UHP Cool Cushion Layer technology helped to cut down the tire’s rolling resistance, and, as a consequence, led to a decrease in the fuel consumption by the vehicle. Requested by the Goodyear-Dunlop company, the presale tests of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV tire were conducted in October 2017 by the TÜV SÜD experts. Their report # 713117618G says that the braking distance of this new SUV tire of the summer season 2018 on dry (from 100 to 0 km/h) and on wet (from 80 to o km/n) pavement is 1.2 meters shorter than that of its direct competitors Michelin Latitude Sport 3, Pirelli P Zero Rosso, and Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport in size 255/50 R19 107Y.
