Kumho Ecowing ES31 is a passenger summer tire with an asymmetric tread design, which, according to the manufacturer, is meant to gradually replace the 2012 model Ecowing ES01 KH27. The Kumho Ecowing ES31 tire is currently considered to be the most environmentally safe product from this Korean brand. It is also characterized by extremely low rolling resistance and excellent wet traction, which is due to the specifics of the asymmetric tread design and the use of a new rubber compound with a high content of silica. This successful combination makes it possible to optimize fuel consumption, at the same time cutting down the vehicle’s carbon emissions. Thanks to the four wide circumferential grooves and multiple diagonal sipes, the Ecowing ES31 effectively combats hydroplaning and behaves confidently on wet surfaces. The continuous central stiffness rib of the Kumho ES 31 increases not just road holding ability, but also reduces rolling resistance. Special aerodynamic recesses in the shoulder blocks dissipate heat and improve the interior acoustic comfort. The honeycomb structure used as the motive for the design of the Kumho ES31 Ecowing sidewalls is intended to emphasize the eco-friendliness of the model and the use of environmentally friendly materials in it. The presales tests of the Kumho Ecowing ES31 were conducted in Spain at the IDIADA test facility. They showed that compared to the brand’s existing products, this new model of the 2018 summer season has 13% increased wear resistance, 2% improved dry handling and 3% better wet braking performance.
