Manufacturer's description
Michelin Energy Saver is a «green» summer tire for compact and midsized passenger cars, which, thanks to its asymmetric tread pattern, provides a good balance between safe handling on wet and dry pavement, smooth ride, and environmental performance. A new model 2020, chiefly available on the Japanese, Taiwan, and Hong Kong markets.
Notable Features
Counterintuitive as it may sound, the Michelin Energy Saver 4 is only the third-generation model of the Energy Saver line, and the successor of Energy Saver+ (Plus). The digit 4 in the tire’s name indicates that it belongs to the same generation as Pilot Sport 4 and Primacy 4.
Energy Saver 4 was developed in Japan with a focus on environmental performance and the needs of local motorists. Compared to its predecessor, it got a number of improvements, including the wet traction, which was increased by 5.5%, as well as the cabin and road noise levels, which were reduced by 5% and 9% respectively.
The improved tread pattern of Michelin Energy Saver 4 with wide circumferential grooves and numerous slanted sipes not only increases the tire’s hydroplaning resistance and stability on wet pavement, but also helps to decrease the noise emission.
The undertread layer of this tire contains special material that is meant to reduce road noise and the tire’s rolling resistance.
The updated rubber compound ensures extra grip of Energy Saver 4 on wet pavement and optimizes the vehicle’s fuel consumption.
The Michelin Energy Saver 4 tires with a width of 195 mm and higher feature a 4-rib construction, while the tires with a width of 185 mm and lower are manufactured in the 3-rib version.
