Decided to try out the WinSpike 3 after running Kumho and Nordman tires for years and boy, am I glad I did. These things bite into ice like a beast and they stop on a dime in both snow and icy conditions. I’ve even pushed through deep snow, bumper practically plowing and they didnt flinch. Yeah theyre a bit loud on the road, especially compared to what Im used to, but thats par for the course with studded tires. After the studs wore in the braking distance on wet asphalt improved, too.

Picked up Guard WinSpike 3s in 2020 and theyve been great so far. The sidewalls are soft, similar to what youd find on a Matador or Tigar, which I like for city driving. The studs are well placed, and it’s been a quiet ride overall. Just keep in mind that the braking distance on wet asphalt is a bit longer before the studs fully settle in. But once they do, no issues.
