Toyo Open Country H/T II

Manufacturer's description

The all-new Open Country H/T II builds on the quality and reputation of the Open Country H/T. Advanced technology and design provide improved wet braking performance and handling, longer tread life, and more consistent performance throughout the life of the tire. Light truck and SUV owners will appreciate the dual sidewall design – sporty on one side, classic on the other – that lets them choose the look that complements their vehicle.

Features And Benefits:

  • Wear-Resistant Tread Compound (Extends tread life and durability);
  • Adaptive Circumferential Grooves (Help maintain good wet traction performance throughout the life of the tire);
  • Expanding Shoulder Grooves (Help maintain good wet traction performance throughout the life of the tire);
  • Four Wide Circumferential Grooves (Evacuate water to improve wet traction);
  • Dual Sidewall Designs (Offer two distinct looks for customizing -- one sporty and one classic);

Notable Features

Toyo Open Country H/T II is a highway all-season tire with a symmetric non-directional tread pattern, designed to be fitted on pickup trucks and SUVs. This tire is characterized by reliable wet traction, high resistance to wear, fuel-saving capabilities, as well as by a smooth and quiet ride. A new 2019 model in the Highway Terrain class. Toyo Open Country H/T II The Toyo Open Country H/T II came to replace the first-generation model Open Country H/T. The model was in the making for more than ten years, during which the engineers worked on making improvements in several performance areas at once.

Despite the similar tread pattern, the second-generation model surpasses its predecessor in terms of wet braking performance and wet handling response, stability of traction across the tire’s entire life span, and has a longer tread life. Toyo Open Country H/T II / Open Country H/T The Open Country HT2 wet grip was improved through optimizing the tread pattern. Assisted by diverging traversal channels, the main drainage grooves – two straight and two zigzag ones – very quickly dispel water from the contact patch, effectively increasing the tire’s hydroplaning resistance and road holding ability when driving in the rain or on melted snow. Drainage grooves In order to ensure that the model maintains its performance as the tread wears, the engineers improved the design of adaptive grooves. The deep wave-shaped sipes of the Toyo OPHT II tire serve to improve all-season traction, boost wet and snow grip, and balance out the tread wear for a quieter and more comfortable ride. Deep wave-shaped sipes The symmetric non-directional tread design enhances lateral stability and prevents uneven wear. The varied pitch of the tread blocks serves to dampen the road noise.

Due to the use of an upgraded rubber compound, the Open Country H/T II model has higher resistance to wear. Sidewall styling The two sidewalls are differently designed. One sidewall sports a classic look. It will appeal to those motorists who are used to keeping it simple with the Toyo Open Country H/T tires. The other side has a “sporty” look with highly contrastive inscriptions and highlighted shoulder and sidewall areas, which will make it a great asset to the visual appearance of modern pickups and SUVs.

I've bought these tires some months ago and disappointed with them. I've put only 25,000 miles and the tread is already worn out.To my mind the quality of the tires is poor. Besides, they perform badly in the wet. Would never buy them again.
