Yokohama Rubber to Launch the BluEarth*Winter V906

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that from the autumn of 2020 it will begin sales of the BluEarth*Winter V906, a new winter tire for passenger cars in Europe. The tire will be available in 30 sizes, ranging from 225/40R18 92W XL to 185/65R15 88T.

The new friction tire is coming to replace the BluEarth*Winter V905 model. According to the manufacturer, the new model of the season 2020/2021 improves upon the performance of its predecessor tire in two key areas considered important for winter tires by European drivers. These are performance on snow and ice and wet-grip performance. At the same time, the tire maker was able to maintain a high level of wear resistance delivered by V905.

While developing the tread pattern of the Yokohama BluEarth*Winter V906, the Yokohama designers based themselves on Harmony Tread Design concept, which positions grooves, blocks, and sipes in a harmonious layout that delivers a more powerful performance of the new tires on all winter road surfaces.

The tire’s tread compound is a newly developed super-rich silica compound that uses a large amount of silica to dramatically enhance the tire’s wet-grip performance. Yokohama Rubber’s proprietary A.R.T. (Advanced Reaction Technology), an advanced reaction mixing technology, greatly improves the dispersibility of materials, which, in turn, heightens the efficiency of the silica. In addition, the tire’s unique construction includes a low-heat generating undertread rubber that maintains a low rolling resistance.

We will remind you that in 2018 Yokohama Rubber introduced its first all-season tire for the European market — the BluEarth-4S AW21. In 2019, the company presented the studless winter tire model Yokohama iceGUARD iG53, engineered specially to tackle harsh winter conditions.
