Description
The Radar Dimax Ice Lock is a Nordic winter tire engineered for extreme cold, ice, and packed snow. Its ultra-soft silica compound maintains flexibility in temperatures below -22°F (-30°C), while 130+ factory-installed tungsten carbide studs (Tikka Spikes) provide mechanical grip on icy surfaces. The tread’s dense siping and multi-directional grooves enhance snow traction and water evacuation, complemented by a reinforced casing to resist stud retention loss. 3PMSF certification validates its severe snow performance.
Features & Benefits
- Optimized for Nordic Conditions: The Dimax Ice Lock is specifically designed to handle the severe winter conditions of Nordic regions, ensuring safety and control on icy and snow-packed roads.
- Super Soft Tread Compound: Unique to the Dimax Ice Lock, this compound remains soft and grippy even in the extreme cold, ensuring consistent traction.
- Factory-Fitted Tikka Spike Studs: These high-end studs are strategically placed to offer increased mechanical grip, enhancing braking capabilities on ice and hard-packed snow.
- Enhanced Grip on Ice: The high density of zig-zag sipes provides more biting edges, ensuring superior grip on icy surfaces.
- Superior Traction on Hard-Packed Snow: The tire's directional self-cleaning tread design, combined with sipes and studs, ensures excellent grip on compacted snow.
Year Released
The Radar Dimax Ice Lock was introduced to the market in 2019.
Regions Availability
The Radar Dimax Ice Lock is available for purchase in the USA and Canada.
Vehicle Compatibility / Popular Vehicle Fitments
Given the tire's design and the regions it's available in, the Radar Dimax Ice Lock would be compatible with a range of passenger vehicles commonly found in the USA and Canada. Some potential popular vehicle fitments might include:
- Honda Accord
- Toyota Camry
- Ford Fusion
- Chevrolet Malibu
- Nissan Altima
- Subaru Legacy
- Hyundai Sonata
- Kia Optima
- Mazda 6
- Volkswagen Passat
Note: Always consult with a tire specialist or the vehicle's manufacturer to ensure correct tire fitment.
Final Thoughts
The Dimax Ice Lock excels in extreme winter environments, particularly for drivers facing icy commutes or rural roads with minimal plowing. Its studded design outperforms traditional winter tires on glare ice, though stud noise and accelerated dry-road wear are trade-offs. Competitors like the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 offer marginally better hydroplaning resistance, but the Ice Lock’s aggressive stud pattern and competitive pricing make it a pragmatic choice for Canadian Prairies or Northern U.S. states.
