Wet-weather dominance decided this test. The WinterContact TS 870 swept wet braking, wet handling and the wet circle, then added the quietest cabin, strong snow braking and handling, and low rolling resistance. Snow traction sits near the bottom, dry braking is only mid-pack, and the price is high.

A near-miss winner. The Cinturato Winter 3 tied for fastest wet handling, led straight aquaplaning, placed second in wet circle, curved aquaplaning, dry braking and snow handling, and won praise for positive turn-in and stability at the limit. Mid-field snow braking and traction, plus eighth in dry handling, kept it from the top step.

Snow-first buyers should start here. The Winter i*cept RS3 recorded the shortest snow stop, took second in snow traction and handling, and stayed strong with second in wet braking and straight aquaplaning plus third in dry handling. Cabin noise, mid-field rolling resistance, and lower-half wet handling and wet circle grip are the trade-offs.

A split personality that mostly works. The Blizzak 6 paired second-best snow braking with the fastest dry handling lap and second-lowest rolling resistance, plus top-four wet circle and curved aquaplaning and second-place cabin noise. Last-place dry braking is the obvious scar; softer turn-in left wet handling, straight aquaplaning and snow handling merely mid-field.

Economy is the headline. The Alpin 7 crushed the rolling resistance test by the largest margin here, placed third in snow traction and fourth in snow braking, and was fourth in wet braking with predictable, nose-led balance. Curved aquaplaning, cabin noise, dry handling and the highest price are the compromises.

Deep water and snow are where the UltraGrip Performance 3 makes its case. It was fastest in snow handling, best in curved aquaplaning, third in wet circle and straight aquaplaning, and fourth in snow traction. Slowest dry handling, mid-field wet braking, poor rolling resistance and a high price hold it back.

A mild-winter specialist. The Eurowinter HS02 led dry braking, placed fifth in dry handling, third in wet handling and fifth in wet braking, and ranked among the quietest cabins. Snow braking, traction and handling all sat near the bottom, and curved aquaplaning was weak, so real winter conditions expose it.

Straight-line snow grip is the Dunlop Winter’s calling card. It won snow traction, took third in snow braking, delivered solid rolling resistance and felt willing on the wet handling circuit. Snow handling was lower mid-field, and wet braking, wet handling and straight aquaplaning were among the weakest, with a loose feel on the dry lap.

Quiet, cheap, and compromised. The Sport Master Winter offers a very quiet cabin, respectable snow handling and a sixth-place snow lap, with stable and uncomplicated behavior for the money. Highest rolling resistance in the test and poor deep-water performance—especially aquaplaning, wet handling and wet cornering—are hard to overlook.

Budget snow coverage with wet-weather penalties. The Premitra Snow WP6 is the cheapest tire here, and snow is its strongest surface, with eighth-place results in snow braking, traction and handling. Dry handling is mid-pack and predictable, but wet braking and wet handling are among the weakest, dry braking is little better, and rolling resistance is poor.

Dry-road pace, winter-tire failure. The Frostrack HP shared the fastest dry handling lap and took third in dry braking, but it was last among the winter tires in every snow and wet test. Curved aquaplaning was far worse than anything else here, wet handling was poor, limit behavior was unpleasant, and it is not even the cheapest option.
