Only one tire can be crowned the «best new tire» at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show each year, and become the prize winner in the «Best New Products» category. The second prize is shared by two models. In 2019, all three of those winning tires belong to Yokohama Tire Corp., which made a comeback at SEMA after a seven year’s hiatus.
SEMA named the Geolandar X-AT extreme all-terrain tire best new tire, while the ultra-high-performance Advan Apex and the luxury SUV and crossover tire Geolandar X-CV earned runner-up recognition.
To be considered a best new product in a category, the product must have been introduced sometime after the 2018 SEMA Show, and be available for shipment within 90 days of the close of the 2019 SEMA Show.
The Geolandar X-AT is an extreme all-terrain tire designed for pickup trucks, Jeeps and SUVs. It comes in 27 sizes, ranging from 15 to 22 inches. The manufacturer claims that the tire offers off-road performance without sacrificing on-road comfort. The dual sidewall design allows the consumers to choose the appearance they like the best.
The Advan Apex V601 model was developed for the North American market. It is available in 44 sizes, ranging from 17- to 20-inch fitments. The tire is built upon the legacy of Yokohama’s UHP products, including the A008, AVS Intermediate, AVS Sport, and Advan Sport V105. The Advan Apex model offers enhanced wet and dry performance, while providing a refined experience for a wide range of sports cars, high-end performance vehicles and American muscle cars.
Yokohama Geolandar X-CV G057 is specifically engineered for luxury SUVs and crossovers, and is built for long-lasting, powerful all-season traction and braking, as well as for long-term operation. Its model range covers nearly all 18 to 22-inch options meant to be fitted on such vehicles.
