The Pirelli Ice Zero FR tire has an excellently balanced performance and ensures great handling response in any weather conditions. At the same time, it was not without issues, such as a relatively long snow braking distance, average hydroplaning resistance, and increased rolling resistance.

Two years ago, the Pirelli IceZero FR tire was dramatically upgraded, including in terms of its ice performance. According to the Vi Bilagare experts, the new winter model from Pirelli is all about great handling response and lots of driving pleasure. The Italian-made friction tire provides neutral balance, and, featuring high lateral grip, easily tackles sharp turns, both on winter surfaces and on bare asphalt. On dry pavement, this winter tire demonstrates good handling response and stability even at rather warm temperatures. In addition, the IceZero FR is one of the best tires in its segment on wet pavement with a short stopping distance and excellent maneuverability under high loads. As a result of the winter test, this model takes one of the top places in terms of grip and braking distance. Thus, thanks to its excellent performance on all types of road surfaces, the Pirelli model climbed up to the third line of the tournament bracket, falling just one point short of the Nokian model that came second.

Positive: Short braking distance on dry pavement.
Negative: Unstable behavior on ice and snow. At first, the tires demonstrate excellent lateral stability and handling response but then they may abruptly lose grip — and may recover it just as abruptly. Very long braking distance, relatively weak lateral stability and inaccurate steering response on wet pavement. Insufficient road holding ability.

This tire received a major upgrade two years ago, including improved properties on ice.
Positive: Good driving characteristics, both in winter and bare ground.
Negative: Aquaplaning.

Pirelli is doing well on ice. Good grip and precise steering. Also well behaved in the snow. On wet asphalt, everything is different: it responds slowly to the steering wheel, and the clutch with the rear wheels is easily removed during critical maneuvers. On dry asphalt tires provide a very short stopping distance. Tires are quiet and rolling resistance is low.
