ADAC: Winter Tire Test R16 2018
This year the German motoring orginisation ADAC have tested winter tires in 205/55 R16.
Test continue Continentals winter dominance, with win for the Continental WinterContact TS 860.
Second and third places were taken by the sisters brand Goodyear and Dunlop, with all three of the leading tires proving to offer an excellent balance of winter performances.
Continental WinterContact TS 860
Very well balanced with top marks in the wet, low fuel consumption, especially good on snow.
Goodyear UltraGrip 9
Very balanced with top marks on wet surfaces, especially good on dry roads and snow, low fuel consumption.
Dunlop Winter Sport 5
Very balanced winter tires, especially good on snowy roads, very good on dry and wet roads.
Kleber Krisalp HP3
Top marks in the snow, very good on dry roads. A little weaker in the wet than the best on test.
Michelin Alpin 5
Best tire in the dry and lowest wear. Slightly weak in the snow and fuel consumption tests compared to the best.
Nexen Winguard Snow'G WH2
Good in the dry, low wear. Slightly wear on wet roads and in the snow, high fuel consumption.
Fulda Kristall Control HP2
The Fulda Kristall Control HP2 is very good in the dry and on ice surfaces. Slightly weak in the wet and snow.
Vredestein Snowtrac 5
Very good in the snow, good in the dry, low fuel consumption. Relatively weak in the wet.
Bridgestone Blizzak LM001 Evo
Very low wear, good in the wet and dry, low fuel use. Relatively weak on snow.
Nokian WR D4
Top marks in the snow and low fuel consumption. Relatively weak in the wet, high wear.
