Description
The Michelin CrossClimate 2 is a tour de force in the realm of all-season passenger tires. Developed as a sequel to the original Michelin CrossClimate, this tire brings together years of engineering prowess to deliver what Michelin claims to be "the most versatile and advanced passenger tire" they have developed in more than two decades. This tire is highly versatile, with applications ranging from passenger cars to SUVs and crossovers, courtesy of its wide size range.
Features & Benefits
- All-Weather Traction: One of the standout qualities of the Michelin CrossClimate 2 is its unparalleled all-weather traction. Engineered to excel in both dry and wet conditions, this tire sets the benchmark for safety and stability across varying climates.
- Longevity: The CrossClimate 2 offers an extra year of tread life when compared to other leading competitors in the all-season category.
- Resistance to Wear: Advanced engineering ensures that even when the tire is worn, it still provides a high level of grip on snow and wet pavement, thereby extending the tire's usability.
- Shorter Stopping Distance: Notably, the tire performs exceptionally well in stopping tests, boasting a 4.8-meter shorter stopping distance on dry pavement compared to its competitors.
Technologies
- V-Formation Tread Pattern: The tire features a V-formation tread pattern, which serves a dual purpose: not only does it provide excellent water and snow evacuation, but it also enhances hydroplaning resistance.
- Thermal-Adaptive Tread Compound: A state-of-the-art thermal-adaptive tread compound offers a high level of grip across weather conditions. This compound also minimizes rolling resistance, which translates to better fuel efficiency for the vehicle.
- Figured Lamellas: The design of the lamellas has been upgraded to enhance the edge effect, improving the tire's traction on light snow conditions.

NAF Motor: Studless Winter Tire Test R17
Ranked #6th of 8. Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:As expected, the all-season Michelin CrossClimate 2 struggles to compete with dedicated winter tires on ice and snow, even when compared to budget options. However, when it comes to asphalt, this tire shines, outperforming both the cheapest and the most premium winter tires. On wet asphalt, it delivers a completely different level of performance. In the overall score, this year-round model collects more points than some winter specialists. Manufactured in Italy during the 26th week of 2023, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 has a tread depth of 6.3 mm, a Shore hardness of 69 units, and weighs 8.9 kg. Priced at 1567 NOK, with a load and speed index of 94V, it proves to be a strong contender for those prioritizing performance on asphalt.

Tires are definitely amazing. I had the opportunity to test them in rain and on a dry surface, performance is great. It is comfortable and very quiet when driving. I believe that it is worth paying extra for these tires. I'm very happy with them.
What is good?
Comments
These tires have excellent grip on the road both on wet and dry surfaces, and fuel consumption is at the same low level of ~ 5.7L / 100km. The only negative thing is that the CrossClimate 2 tires are slightly louder, but they are still very good. I recommend! It would be hard to find better all-season tires :)

I've had these tires for 7 months and already driven in winter when there is a lot of snow in our region. These tires are amazing! Comfortable and quiet in the dry, good performance in the wet and the are much better than any of my all seasons I ever had! Highly recommended.

What is good?
I value it for their quietness on the highways and their incredible grip on snow and ice.
What is bad?
Nothing
Comments
I see folks have dinged it for wet road performance. I personally have not had an issue.

What is good?
Comments
I've had these tires for 7 months and already driven in winter when there is a lot of snow in our region. These tires are amazing! Comfortable and quiet in the dry, good performance in the wet and the are much better than any of my all seasons I ever had! Highly recommended.

This tire ensures exceptional control and stability in challenging winter conditions, making it a reliable choice for drivers facing harsh weather. It is particularly praised for its outstanding dry and wet handling, making it a reliable choice for year-round driving. Ranked #4th of 6. Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:The Michelin CrossClimate 2 exhibits robust performance, especially in snow conditions where it leads the segment, and boasts the lowest noise level and rolling resistance in the test. Auto Express: All-Season Tire Test R17
Ranked #3rd of 8. Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:The Michelin CrossClimate 2 impressively ranks third, showcasing a significant improvement in snow performance over its predecessor. It excelled in snow traction and handling, with a robust front end aiding in turns. In dry conditions, it topped the braking test and maintained consistent handling, though it lacked some rivals' sharpness. However, its performance dipped in wet conditions, particularly in deeper water, and its wet grip was less competitive. Notably, its rolling resistance and cabin noise levels were commendably managed.

Auto Zeitung: All-Season Tire Test R17
Ranked #2nd of 9. Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:The Michelin CrossClimate 2, securing second place, demonstrates robust capabilities in various conditions. In snow, it confidently passes tests, showcasing top-tier performance in almost all areas, except for braking. On wet surfaces, it exhibits a delayed reaction to course changes, although its hydroplaning resistance and braking are commendable. The tire excels on dry roads, evidenced by the shortest braking distances, impressive maneuverability in slalom, and minimal rolling resistance. The tire's superior performance on snow and dry pavement compensates for its average wet performance, further bolstered by its economical nature and low rolling resistance.

Promobil: Commercial Winter Tire Test R17
Ranked #2nd of 8. Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:The Michelin Cross Climate 2, ranking second, excels notably in snow with its superior traction and braking performance, alongside stable cornering behavior. It also boasts outstanding braking performance on dry roads, though its evasive maneuvers tend to be sluggish yet safe. Its limitations become apparent in wet conditions, where it exhibits longer braking distances and weaker cornering grip. The tire's inherent damping is also on the lower side.
-
Jan 15, 2024Tire Test 2024
Auto Express: Crossover All-Season Tire Test R18
Ranked #2nd of 4. Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:The Michelin CrossClimate 2 secures second place, continuing its impressive performance in all-season tire tests. It particularly shines in winter conditions, with superior performance in sub-zero temperatures and on snow, closely rivaling dedicated winter tires. Its dry asphalt performance is noteworthy, with significantly shorter braking distances compared to the Goodyear. Handling-wise, it's on par with its competitor, showing only a minimal time difference on a sport track.
However, its wet grip is somewhat compromised to favor snow performance. While it performs safely on wet tracks, exhibiting stable behavior and clear signaling of grip limits, it falls slightly behind the Goodyear in terms of stability and overall wet performance. This slight deficiency extends to other wet tests as well. Additionally, its fuel economy, while competitive, doesn't match up to Goodyear, consolidating its second-place ranking. The CrossClimate 2's primary limitation is its wet asphalt performance; if improved, it could have outclassed its competitors.

Tyre Reviews: All-Season Tire Test R16
- Winner Michelin CrossClimate 2Verdict:The new Michelin CrossClimate 2 had a near flawless test, with the only weakness coming in the wet at cooler temperatures where it couldn't quite match the best. It was the most summer-like tyre in the dry, led both deep water tests, was one of the best in the snow, and had low noise and low rolling resistance. A really impressive performance from the new tyre, and a worthy upgrade to the CrossClimate+.
Positive: Clear leader in the dry, good wet handling, shortest wet braking at warmer temperatures, best aquaplaning resistance in both tests, one of the best tyres overall in the snow, low levels of noise, low rolling resistance.
Negative: Average wet braking at cooler temperatures, expensive. -
